The Community Chorus of Redlands was thrilled to begin its 2025–2026 season with ¡Nuestra Comunidad! Celebrating the spirit of “Our Community,” this concert featured works entirely by Latin American composers, including the world premiere of a new piece, Trovador,
by Alejandro Ruiz. The Community Chorus was also excited to collaborate with St. Mary’s Ballet Folklorico of Redlands and Mariachi Tierras Rojas from University of Redlands, bringing music, instruments, and dance together for a vibrant and unforgettable performance. This joyful opening concert sets the tone for a season bursting with connection, creativity, and community!
Alejandro Ruiz
Composer of Trovador
From Fontana, CA, Alejandro Ruiz is a composer, guitarist, jazz pianist, and first-generation student at the University of Redlands, where he is a Town & Gown Scholar. He performs with the Jazz Improvisation Ensemble, Studio Big Band, and Mariachi Ensemble, sharing his musical voice across campus and throughout the community. Alejandro’s compositions reflect his deep commitment to cultural connection and creative expression. His piece Trovador, written for choir and mariachi instruments, showcases his dedication to storytelling through music and his mission to elevate underrepresented voices.
